An intro to Dental Implants
Historically, if you lost a tooth, you had a gap in your smile or used a removable tooth. Eventually, dental bridges became commonplace. We could permanently replace a gap by utilizing the adjacent teeth. As ceramic materials improved, we could even achieve a cosmetic result!
The downside is that the procedure requires us to work on other teeth. In many cases, a dental bridge is still the best option and a good one at that. However, we now have another option.
Dental implants have rapidly improved; we can replace a tooth without touching others. They appear and function similarly to a natural tooth. However, implants are an advanced procedure that requires surgery, close follow-up, and maintenance.
We are blessed to live in modern times. Regardless of age or dental history, we have more options to keep our smiles healthy and intact!
